The global search function enables an additional, simple full-text search for users simultaneously in the most important system areas (tickets, assets, knowledge base, tasks).
Search functions:
The search allows a simple word search and also has a fuzzy search that also finds terms with typos/ inconsistent spellings (e.g. search for "printer" also finds hits with "Printr" or "Pritner" etc.; the fuzziness can include up to 4 character changes, so there may be unwanted hits with very similarly spelled words, e.g. "print" and "press" is seen as a possible fuzziness and objects are returned as hits with both search terms respectively).
The search result returns objects that match the search term, these can be opened from the search result as usual.
Depending on the type, all titles, description and solution fields, as well as person and number fields are indexed in the objects. History tables or special additional fields are deliberately excluded from the index to reduce the amount of unwanted search hits.
Usable search operators:
•AND Linking of words searches only objects in which both words occur ("apple AND pear")
•OR combination of words searches only objects in which at least one of the words occurs ("apple OR pear")
•NOT condition: Specified before a search word, exclude that search word as a match. If NOT is not the first concatenation in a search query, you must use either AND or OR with NOT (e.g. search for "apple AND NOT pear")

Note: •The search index is currently only updated nightly. I.e. objects that they enter within one working day can only be found by the full text search on the next day. |
